Born on May 14, 1979, in Hartford, Connecticut, Laura Brennan has dedicated over 20 years to the criminal justice system. Inspired by the challenges faced by her community, Laura pursued a career in criminal justice with a focus on corrections and rehabilitation. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain order amidst chaos, Laura oversees daily operations at DCI, ensuring compliance with regulations and addressing any issues that arise.
Began her career as a probation officer in Hartford, Connecticut in 2003, where she gained valuable experience in the criminal justice system and worked closely with offenders to facilitate their reintegration into society.
Transitioned to corrections administration at Cheshire Correctional Institution, Connecticut in 2005, where she managed various administrative tasks and worked on implementing new policies and procedures.
Joined Dayspring Correctional Institution on July 20, 2009, as a Corrections Administrator, focusing on improving administrative processes and inmate programs.
Promoted to Assistant Warden of Dayspring Correctional Institution on August 3, 2015, the same day Rick Mortenson was appointed Warden. Laura’s role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and implementing rehabilitation programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, graduating in 2001.
Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Connecticut, graduating in 2003.
